the 100-year-old botanical garden, an attractive
laid-out mix of indigenous forest, cultivation
and horticulture and a highly attractive destination
for birdwatchers.

Beach Hotel.
Day 2
Awake in the morning to a sumptuous breakfast,
complete with delicious tropical fruits that
grow in abundance in Africa. After breakfast,
a speed boat will transfer you to Ngamba Island,
on Lake Victoria, Chimpanzee Sanctuary, a
100 acre forested island, which provides a
safe haven for about 40 orphaned chimps that
roam freely on the island.
This is a great opportunity for close viewing
of chimpanzees in their natural environment.
The island is Uganda's newest sanctuary
for orphaned chimpanzees and those rescued
from zoos, circuses, and even the cooking
pot!
Ngamba Island Chimp Sanctuary was established
in 1998 in association with the Jane Goodall
Trust. The Sanctuary provides a home to
over 30 chimpanzees. The chimps are free
to roam their island,
with
the exception of a small fenced-off section
reserved for staff and visitors. You will
enjoy an afternoon feeding of the chimpanzees
from the visitor’s platform area along
the edge of the sanctuary fence, a good
opportunity to also take remarkable pictures.
Chimpanzees are amazing animals which share
97% of genes with humans and watching them
scamper for food and sit down to enjoy it
is highly entertaining! Have lunch at Ngamba
Island.
After lunch, enjoy a visit to the resourceful
Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, formerly
a Zoo, located 5 km from Entebbe International
Airport, where you’ll have an insight
of the beautiful flora and fauna Uganda
has to offer. Witness animals in their near-natural
habitats, from the great savannah, to the
swampy wetlands. You’ll get a chance
to see the critically endangered and near
extinct white rhinos, the majestic lion,
chimpanzees, otters, buffalo, bush pig,
eland, giant African python, Uganda kob
and a variety of amazing birds including
the much sought after prehistoric-looking
shoebill. The Centre also has a curios shop
with beautiful African crafts that one can
purchase as souvenirs.
Dinner and overnight at your hotel in
Entebbe.
Day 3
Depart
Entebbe after breakfast for Queen Elizabeth
National Park (QENP). You will stop for
lunch at the Lake View Regency Hotel in
Mbarara, and then continue the journey to
the park. Queen Elizabeth National Park
portrays an outstanding beauty, spreading
across more than 1,900 square kilometres
of virtually untouched land, endowed with
lush vegetation and rich wildlife. Every
where you look you are rewarded with a breath
taking view of the grand designs of Mother
Nature.
From open savannah to rainforest, from
dense papyrus swamps and brooding crater
lakes to the vastness of Lake Edward, it
is little wonder that QENP boasts of one
of the highest biodiversity ratings of any
game reserve in the world.
Almost 100 mammal species and a remarkable
606 bird species make this a superb Safari
territory, with elephant, a profusion of
hippos, the elusive giant forest hog and
handsome Uganda kob all regularly sighted
around the tourist village on the Mweya
Peninsula - which also boasts a marvellous
waterfront setting in the shadow of the
Rwenzori Mountains. The melting glacier
waters of the mountains create a vast wetlands
system comprising of two main lakes, George
and Edward, as well as the connecting Kazinga
channel. Thousands of hippos populate the
lake shores. Open savannah dotted with acacia
and Euphorbia trees provide habitant primates.
The park boasts of more bird species than
any other park in Africa.
Located on a peninsula within the heart
of the park is the Mweya Safari Lodge, a
Luxury Resort aesthetically constructed
with meticulous care. The Lodge is fitted
with 25 standard rooms, all en-suite, fitted
to world class standards. The comforting
amenities include mosquito netted curtains,
hot showers, a powerful ceiling fan and
a veranda that offers a spectacular view
of Kazinga Channel. The dining area, bar
and swimming pool offer a grandstand view
over the facing bank of the Kazinga Channel,
a point of intersection between George and
Edward lakes which routinely attracts large
herds of buffalos, hippos and elephant.
The lodge gardens are rustling with animal
life ranging from warthogs and banded mongoose
to a variety of lizards, slender-billed
weavers and marsh flycatchers that approach
the veranda so closely, you can practically
touch them. Rest of the day will be spent
at leisure.
Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari
Lodge
Day 4
After
breakfast, you will explore Ishasha( 120km),
the plains in the southwest of the park
which boast of some of the most alluring
game-viewing areas in the country, as much
for its untrammelled mood as its varied
wildlife. Ishasha is famous for its lions,
one of the few populations in Africa that
habitually climb trees and to see a pride
of up to 14 lions up a tree, all fast asleep
with huge distended bellies will leave you
with fond memories of Africa. You will have
a game drive on the northern circuit which
passes through the kobs’ breeding
ground, and one of the most productive sites
for lion viewing. The lions stick close
to their prey, the kobs.
The area has a luxurious tented camp where
you will have your lunch amidst tranquil
ambience. Between Mweya and Ishasha, is
a serene, small, hyacinth-covered lake fringing
the road.
After lunch, enjoy the unique 2-hour boat
cruise on the Kazinga Channel and into Lake
Edward. This trip passes through possibly
the highest concentration of hippos. Many
animals may be seen drinking at the water's
edge. This launch cruise offers an excellent
platform for photography, bird watching
and game viewing. The prolific bird life
is colourful and stupendous with well over
550 resident species. At least 20 hippos
are resident in the lake, which also frequently
attracts kob, antelope and birds; notably
the African jacana and small black crake.
You will have an evening game drive to view
more of the animals around the park.
Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari
Lodge
Day 5
After
breakfast depart for Kampala. You will have
a lunch stop at Lake View Regency hotel
in Mbarara before continuing the journey.
You will also stop at the equator for a
photo session, water flow experiments and
a visit to the nearby art gallery and visit
the royal drum makers. Arrive Kampala in
the evening and spend the rest of the day
at leisure exploring the capital city.
The African village at the heart of the
city has a beautiful collection of arts
and crafts ranging from art pieces, and
sculptures, to handbags, leather sandals
decorated with beautiful multicoloured beads
