a drive of 40 km.

Day 2
Depart
Kampala for Murchison Falls National Park
through Nakasongola with an optional a stopover
at Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary, 213 km from Kampala.
You will have an amazing view of the Rhinos.
Then proceed to Murchison falls which will
take approximately 2 hours by road. Keep alert
for wildlife that are easily spotted on your
drive to Paraa Safari Lodge. You will arrive
at the lodge just in time for a scrumptious
lunch accompanied with fresh tropical fruit
for dessert. Uganda's largest national park
protects a chunk of untamed African savannah
bisected by the mighty River Nile. It is named
for the dramatic Murchison Falls, where the
world's longest river explodes violently through
a six metre wide cleft in the Rift Valley
forming cascading waves that thunder against
the rocks 43 metres (141 feet) below. Wildlife
populations have largely recovered from the
poaching of the 1980s; in the lush borassus
grassland to the north of the Nile, elephant,
buffalo, giraffe and a variety of antelope
are regularly encountered on game drives,
while lions are seen with increasing frequency.
The vegetation is characterized by savannah,
riverine forest and woodland. Wildlife includes
lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes,
hartebeests, orbis, Uganda Kobs, chimpanzees
and many bird species. In the cool early morning,
before the sun rises too high, one can see
plenty of game on the Buligi, Albert and Queen
tracks north of the river Nile
Check in at Paraa Safari Lodge.
The rest of the day will be spent at leisure
as you recuperate from the long journey.
The Lodge is located in Murchison Falls National
Park in the North West of Uganda, Paraa Safari
Lodge offers comfortable accommodation in
a selection of 54 rooms and a few suites with
magnificent views of the Nile, all with en-suite
bathrooms and balconies. Like most Uganda
safari lodges, Paraa Lodge offers facilities
including a Lounge, bar, restaurant, swimming
pool, natural gardens in a beautiful landscape
and enjoy a cuisine to suite your needs.
Dinner and overnight Paraa Safari Lodge.
Day 3
After
an early breakfast, you will embark on a chimp
tracking adventure at Kaniyo Pabidi Eco tourism
site. The forest is one of the most extensive
and ecologically diverse in East Africa, with
some 465 plant species recorded; most impressive
perhaps is a dense concentration of buttressed
giant mahoganies and ironwood trees, reaching
up to 60m (197 feet) tall. The forest is managed
by the Jane Good all Institute, a leading
chimpanzee conservation organization, with
excellent guides.
Look out for other primates including black-and-white
colobus, red-tailed monkey, blue monkey, and
troops of olive baboons. Herds of elephant
and buffalo have also been sited. Birds include
common shrike flycatcher, chestnut wattle-eye,
Narina trogon, little greenbuls, chestnut-winged
starling, grey apalis, dwarf and pygmy kingfishers,
and a great many more forest sunbirds and
hornbills.
Return to the lodge for lunch. The rest of
the day will be spent at leisure.
Dinner and overnight Paraa Safari Lodge.
Day 4
After
an early breakfast, you will go for a game
drive through the delta circuit, reputably
known for high concentrations of wildlife.
The drive will lead you to a grassy peninsular,
bordered by the delta of the Victoria Nile
to the south, and the Albert Nile to the north.
There are kob breeding grounds, where you
can view herds of the Uganda kob and common
prides of lions which stick close to their
prey. Other antelopes you will see include
Defassa waterbuck, Jackson’s hartebeest
and orbi. Great herds of giraffe also occupy
this area.
Buffalo, hippos, and elephants are also common.
Birds found here include the rare shoebill
stork, Abyssinian ground hornbill, crested
crane, saddle-billed stork, Denham’s
bustard and the Senegal thick knee among other
various water and savannah grassland birds.
After lunch, you will visit the Boomu Women’s
group for a community tour and a chance to
learn more about the local people found around
the park. The group is a member of the Uganda
Community Tourism Association which mainly
focuses on aiding local people living in areas
endowed with natural resources but disadvantaged
by poverty to improve their livelihoods through
community tourism.
The group has set up a small tourism project
in a cozy location with trees and flowers,
and it offers a participatory experience in
community tourism. You will have an unhurried,
scenic walk through the village, local farms
and households. You will be introduced to
the various crops they grow and the projects
they run. Learn more about the culture and
delight in the cultural performances. Indulge
in the local cuisine of food freshly dug from
the farms and fresh fruits. They also have
a small craft shop with beautiful handcrafts
which you can purchase as souvenirs for friends
and relatives back home.
Return to the lodge and spend the rest of
the day at leisure.
Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge.
Day 5
Return
to Kampala. Spend the evening exploring and
doing last minute shopping for loved ones
back home in African village on Buganda road.
There are some excellent craft shops which
have a wide range of inexpensive arts and
crafts.
Dinner and over night at your hotel.
